Friendship Baptist Church's 56,000-square-foot expansion includes a 1,200-seat auditorium, spacious gathering areas, cafe, classrooms for children and adult classes, a two-story indoor play area and more. This expansion more than doubled the size of the existing facility constructed in 2000, giving the church some much needed elbow room.
When pulling into the newly added parking area at Friendship Baptist Church members and visitors are greeted by a new porte cochere for convenient drop off and lots of newly added parking to make it more convenient to access the new addition. Once entering the building, attendees are welcomed by a large gathering space with a two-story arched wall of windows and a large grand staircase that leads to an upstairs coffee bar, adult classrooms and overlooking mezzanine. The sanctuary boasts stadium seating with 1,200 theater seats, a new environmental projection system and a second floor elevated baptistery.
Expansion (Friendship Baptist Church)
Project Size: 801-2000 seats
Completion Date: April 1, 2014
The church was able to add 56,000 square feet of building, porte cochere, new parking, children's play equipment and the furniture and fixtures for a budget of $6.8 million.
This much-needed space enabled the old sanctuary to be converted to a fellowship hall. This multipurpose area can play host to community events and enables the church to get the community more involved. After all, church is about ministry, and these additional spaces are enabling Friendship Baptist Church to be able to better serve the needs of their community.
