Free Chapel's first satellite campus in metropolitan Atlanta marries the church's reputation for highly participatory, dynamic worship and relevant teaching with the best in production technology.
Free Chapel purchased an existing church facility in late 2012 that had been vacated in foreclosure and looked to Moyers Group to translate the church's vision for a high-impact space. Through the use of 3D modeling, Moyers developed the look and feel for the space to the church's satisfaction, optimizing anticipated site lines and seating capacities as well as the required stage dimensions and rigging points. They then used this model to communicate the inspiration to the project architect for the formal architectural design of the renovation.
Moyers Group took on both the design and implementation of audio, broadcast video, LED video walls, theatrical and house lighting, acoustic treatment, production intercom, production IT, motors and motor control for the center virtual teaching screen, dual stream video-over-IP interconnect from the Gainesville, Georgia broadcast campus, digital signage, circulation distributed audio and video and full audio, video, and lighting systems for the children's ministry spaces. Due to aggressive schedule requirements, Moyers completed the design for both the room itself and production systems in less than four months. On-site audio, video, and lighting installation began in January 2014 and was completed in time for opening March 9, 2014.
Worship Technology Project (Free Chapel)
Project Size: 801-2000 seats
Completion Date: April 1, 2014
Designed to maximize production flexibility, the systems employ highly configurable truss, motors and chainfall structural systems. The core of the audio system is Meyer Sound MINA loudspeakers, Digico SD-Series audio consoles with Optocore and Sennheiser wireless microphones and in-ear monitors. A Ross Video Carbonite 2 ME switcher, Imagine Communications Platinum router and Hitachi SK-HD1200 cameras (the first such implementation from Hitachi in a HOW in North America) create spectacular images to be displayed on a 16-foot wide Absen 3mm side screen as well as LED walls and a 23-foot-wide center stage display. ETC Source 4 LED Ellipsoidals, Martin Viper and Aura lighting fixtures and Chroma-Q Inspire RGBW house lighting paint the environment with light. Haivision Coolsign digital signage, Panasonic IPS commercial displays and Meyer Sound Stella distributed audio speakers transport content effectively to circulation spaces.
The resulting space is a modern worship environment must be experienced. The room is warm and engaging. The fit and finish of the implementation is a testimony to the Moyers Group team's attention to detail. While the technology provides a tremendous foundation for the facility, the individual pieces disappear, and the sum of all the parts create a cohesive, distraction-free environment.
