People are looking or slimmer display solutions, says DisplaySearch.

Less is more when it comes to the amount of visible bezel on video walls, according to a study by DisplaySearch.

Sales of narrow-bezel displays have been on the rise thanks to models with greatly reduced width of visible rims on displays.

More than 2 million shipments of the product were made last year, according to DisplaySearch, with 8 million shipments projected for 2015.

The increase in sales may have a lot to do with the newer small-edged LCD screens being a good option for video wall installations. Major competitors in the market offer displays with a bezel width of 15 mm or less, positioning the LCD screens to directly compete against direct-view LED displays and projection cubes for installation projects.

DisplaySearch vice president of PC and large format commercial displays Chris Connery says the smaller width size of LCD displays have widened the number of products available for certain projects.

“Advancements in technology in both LCD and plasma have allowed for the spacing between adjacent displays to almost disappear,” he says. “New thin bezel LCD technologies can be used in ways never thought of before.”
