Sheltered Apps announced today that they have officially launched their first product, a church directory application called Courtyard.
Courtyard is a web-based application for creating, managing and printing church directories. According to Sheltered Apps, the product is unique in that the user interface is centered around families, rather than individuals. Also, while Courtyard leverages the social power of the web, it focuses on making it easy for one or two people to manage the directory, rather than requiring everyone to log on to the site. In particular, Courtyard has tools for producing a customized PDF export, which can be taken to a printer to produce paper directories. This makes it easier than ever to accommodate all the members of your church, whether they are tech-savvy or not.
While Courtyard was designed specifically with churches in mind, it will serve as a useful tool for schools and other small to medium-sized organizations that are more interested in families than individuals.
Sheltered Apps hopes to expand Courtyard's feature-set in the future to include online printing, small group management, and more. They are eager to work with local churches to better understand how they can be of service in this area.
They also announced that for a limited time, they are offering to help new users import their existing directories. Paying customers can send them their directory files and have them converted to work with Courtyard free of charge. This alleviates the pain of mass data-entry, which is the most common barrier for churches who want to adopt a database-backed directory solution.
Courtyard is currently on the web at http://courtyardapp.com.
