Digital Confession Encourages International Catholics

Little i Apps LLC of South Bend, Ind., announces the updated release of Confession: A Roman Catholic App, the international best seller for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices. Developed for those who frequent the sacrament and those who wish to return, this popular confession helper reportedly features push notification reminders, additional vocation choices, sin counts, and updated examinations. In honor of the election of Pope Francis and the global renewal of the New Evangelization, the app is also available natively in Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese.

Little i Apps developer and co-founder, Patrick Leinen, says, "This release is part of a long-term goal of our creative team to provide quality Catholic applications for the faithful. The user-response to the original version of Confession was overwhelmingly positive. From assisting those who had fallen away for 20 years or more, to aiding our newest members of the Catholic community in taking part in the Sacrament, to supporting regular attendees, the app became part of the faith journey of Catholics at every stage. This new version offers users additional features that will aid them in preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation as well as offering many more Catholics around the world the opportunity to use the app in their native languages."

Deacons, both married and single, and seminarians will now find personalized examination of conscience questions for their vocations written by new contributors, Deacon John Tugman of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger, Ind., and Rev. James Gallagher, C.S.C., director of the Office of Vocations for the Congregation of Holy Cross. All users now have the ability to track the number of times a sin is committed and to set push notification reminders for going to confession. All users will also find helpful updates to their examination questions that will aid their preparation and make it easier to use the app during confession.

The original app received the first known imprimatur for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Android applications. The updated release has received a new imprimatur from Bishop Kevin C. Rhodes of the Diocese of Fort Wayne in South Bend.

Designed to be used in the confessional, this app invites Catholics to prayerfully prepare for and participate in the Rite of Penance. Additional contributors include Rev. Thomas G. Weinandy, OFM, executive director of the Secretariat for Doctrine and Pastoral Practices of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and Rev. Dan Scheidt, pastor of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka, Ind.

Confession: A Roman Catholic App is available for $1.99 at the iTunes App Store, Google Play, and Amazon. For more information, visit Little i Apps at www.littleiapps.com.
