Extron is one of the most well-known manufacturers in the commercial A/V world and the company has a vast product line that includes everything from matrix switchers to audio amplifiers.
The company’s latest product addresses the growing streaming media category. According to the California-based manufacturer, the product can be used for remote monitoring and conferencing applications.
The newly announced SME 100 is available in two versions: a lower resolution model that handles content ranging from 166x120 up to 720x576, and the SME 100 HD, which streams at resolutions ranging from 166x120 to 1080p/30. Extron says the SME 100 employs the standards-based H.264/MPEG-4/AVC protocols, and it’s engineered to work with RGB or DVI input signals up to 1920x1080. In addition, the units feature integrated three-input switchers with audio and buffered loop-through connections.
The Extron SME 100 encoders can be used for remote A/V system monitoring, presentation and conferencing overflow, enterprise broadcast of central media assets, and the delivery of media over the Internet using a Content Delivery Network provider.
