JVC Professional Products Company announces winning the 2008 prestigious New Product Showcase Award at Security Industry Association's (SIA) New Product Showcase competition on April 2, 2008 at ISC West in Las Vegas. JVC was awarded for the category IP Devices, Products and Software for the recently introduced VN-V686WPU outdoor pan-tilt-zoom IP-network security camera.

"SIA's New Product Showcase is the most coveted award in the industry. JVC has been a strong supporter of the SIA NPS process and we are very proud of the achievement of the VN-V686WPU camera," says Geoff Anderson National Marketing Manager for JVC security products. "The NPS Award is a validation that JVC technology is the best in class for IP video surveillance. Based on the analytical results of this NPS competition, we believe our customers will be well served by the VN-V686WPU."

More than 100 new products and technologies competed for top honors at the annual awards program honoring excellence in security product design. In its 29th year, SIA's New Product Showcase (NPS) competition recognizes the industry's most innovative new security solutions and past winners have gone on to become leading products in the security industry.

As part of its V.Networks lineup, the VN-V686WPU is an outdoor IP66-rated vandal-proof IP surveillance camera that features a 36x optical zoom lens with a direct drive mechanism to provide fast and accurate PTZ functionality. The camera's optical zoom capability is complemented by an image stabilizer for clear visibility even with tight shots. The feature that really grabbed the NPS judges' attention was the hot swap camera head, which reduces time and cost for camera maintenance, upgrade and repair.

In addition, the VN-V686WPU high-resolution camera features ΒΌ-inch CCDs with 380,000 effective pixels and full motion dual stream JPEG and MPEG4. With true day and night operation, the camera includes an IR cut-off filter removal function and is enclosed in an IP66 vandal and weather proof housing with built-in fan and heater.
