Georgia’s Trinity Chapel Four-Phase Expansion Complete

Trinity Chapel Church in Powder Springs, Georgia, is now worshipping in its brand new facility after a four phase building project. With its recent expansion, Trinity Chapel Church now occupies 220,000 square feet of building space with a sanctuary that seats 4,000. The multi-phased master plan by Petra Architecture developed as follows:

Phase I – Original Sanctuary – 75,000 square feet, 2,000 seats

Phase II – Classroom Building w/ Prayer Tower – 12,000 square feet

Phase III – Christian School Building (Trinity Chapel Academy) – 52,000 square feet

Phase IV – Sanctuary Expansion – 80,000 square feet new, 28,000 square feet renovation, 4,000 seats

The Third Phase is a 52,000 SF Education Center for Trinity Chapel Academy, a Christian School that currently houses grades 1-10 (the high school was just started last year, with a grade being added each year). This three-story building contains classrooms, a cafeteria, music and choir rooms, computer, art and science laboratories, fitness center, media center, administration offices, and a complete gymnasium.

The Fourth Phase is an 80,000 SF Sanctuary expansion and a renovation of 28,000 SF in the original church building. The sanctuary footprint was basically mirrored, bringing the seating capacity to 4,000 seats. This phase also includes classrooms, video recording studio, audio recording studios, web cast studios, rehearsal studios, dance studios, nurseries, conference rooms, media duplication rooms, choir rooms, a bookstore, a coffee shop/café, offices, expansive lobbies/gathering spaces, and a 70-foot pedestrian sky bridge connecting the new Sanctuary Building to the Education Building.

The sanctuary is a performing-arts style built in a semi-circle with a 145-foot clear span, sloped concrete floors, stadium style balcony seating, catwalks with extensive theatrical lighting including 130 intelligent lights, and audio and video systems capable of supporting high definition satellite broadcasting and recording. The stage is flat with portable stands and multiple configurations to maximize flexibility from one service to the next, and for various productions. All seating is movable for the same reason, and can be added or subtracted as needed.

The site work includes 1,600 parking stalls, a radius drop-off canopy, outdoor fellowship areas, and a 70-foot pedestrian sky bridge connecting the Sanctuary Building to the Education Building.

Future phases currently under design by Petra Architecture include:

Youth Building and Fitness Center – 52,000 square feet

Gymnasium/Recreation Building – 31,000 square feet

Preschool/Children’s Building – 32,000 square feet

When all phases are completed, the total building area will be 335,000 square feet. For more information about Petra Architecture please visit http://petraarchitecture.com/ or contact Mark Freeman at mark@petraarchitecture.com.
