Princeton Presbyterian Church Receives National Design Award

Princeton Presbyterian Church in West Windsor Township, N.J., has received an Award of Excellence from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Commercial Builders Council. The NAHB, based in Washington, D.C., is a trade organization devoted to reshaping and enriching communities.

Designed by Pennington, N.J.-based Saphire + Albarran Architecture LLC, the church was built by Bossart Builders in association with Barden Building Systems, church construction specialists.

Speaking on behalf of the committee that selected the project for the award, Ken Ringe, 2011 vice chair of the Commercial Builders Council, says, “This project showed great use of different materials, and the expanded space took into consideration the specific needs of the congregation, as well as the design aesthetics of the surrounding community.”

The 28,000-square-foot addition creates a new sanctuary that can hold 750 people, a banquet hall, commercial kitchen, classrooms and meeting spaces. The addition was constructed of pre-engineered wood panel and heavy timber beams and reportedly features dramatic arches, a new masonry façade, custom oak interior finishes and a state-of-the- art sound system to support the music ministry and local performing arts groups.
