A New Resource for Growing Ministries

As a church leader you're heavily focused on community outreach. But when you need to reach out and get help for your growing ministry, where do you turn?

Posted 08/03/2010

Churches today are using every media means possible to find and fill needs in their communities and beyond. From trying to reach people who may need the services of individual ministries, to simply letting people know they exist, churches are savvy, using social networking in conjunction with more traditional, print-based efforts to reach out. But where does a church turn when they have a need for their growing, changing ministries? The staff at Worship Facilities Magazine hopes we're your top media source. We strive hard to be. But we wanted to be more than a source -- to also be a resource.

That's why we're offering our first-ever SuperBook, published in conjunction with sister publication Church Production Magazine. SuperBook is designed as a resource, in simple alphabetical order, that can provide a starting point for researching the companies that offer products and services most in demand by houses of worship. Check it out on the brightly colored tab on our home page, and let us know what you think at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Another resource for you is our July/August print issue, where you'll find a number of must-reads. There's our project profile of Cordova, Tenn.-based Bellevue Baptist Church's The Vue -- nearby in Memphis. The Vue's ministry is reaching out to area college-aged students and giving them a God-friendly alternative for community gathering and events. Like you, The Vue staff works hard to get out the message that they're there. Their methods include a combination of Facebook, printed flyers distributed on college campuses, and plain old word-of-mouth. And in the process they've learned that their target age group is highly event-oriented. When they publicize an event, like a worship service with live music, their attendance spikes. And their new facility -- a renovated retail space -- is definitely up to the job of supporting and hosting these events.

Another not-to-miss in the July/August issue of Worship Facilities Magazine is our feature entitled, "Twenty-One Effective Ways Churches are Using Social Media -- Where Do You Fit In?" It's a quick and interesting read that will likely leave you both relating and getting new ideas for your online outreach strategy.
